According to Swedish gun storage regulations one is allowed to store weapons that together reach a total protection value of 20 protection value points (1 rifle = 1 p, 1 handgun = 2 p, 1 automatic weapon = 4 p) given that the cabinet either weighs more than 150 kg, or is bolted to a floor or wall.
Important note!Since regulations differ between countries we advice you to check what applies to your particular circumstances in terms of gun storage with e.g. the local police department.
Bolt lock instead of comb lock
VP17 is equipped with a bolt lock, instead of a "comb lock" such as SP65. Many prefer this lock type over the other one for several reasons. Bolt lock systems are often easier to handle since the lock and handle stays in open position until you close the safe with the handle. In addition to this, they are also much quieter to open and close than other lock variants. Nice if you don't want to wake your family up when you go out to hunt in early mornings.
Code lock or key lock?
Although key lock solutions are common on security cabinets there are several advantages with choosing a code lock instead despite its additional cost.
With a key lock on your safe you are required to always carry the cabinet keys with you. This is not particularly appreciated by most, which sometimes result in ill-fated attempts at hiding keys in the vicinity of the safe. If more then one person are supposed to have access to the safe, code locks are great since you just have to share the code. All in all code locks greatly simplify the use of the safe!
Bolt-down ready
Thanks to the weight of this safe (155 kg) there is no formal requirement to anchor it to a floor or wall. However, we at Arkivexperten still advise you to anchor your safe for two reasons. Firstly the cabinet "only" weighs 150 kg and can thus be moved around quite easily (especially with some experience). Secondly with cabinets of these dimensions (tall and narrow), with heavy doors (30% of the total weight), there is some risk that the safe tips over when the door is opened. This is a hazard to both children and pets. So consider anchoring your safe. The cabinet is prepared with holes in its bottom for anchoring to a floor, and you are allowed to drill extra holes in the back of the safe for anchoring to a wall.
