Key cabinets with code lock for home and business

Key cabinets with code lock, key lock or key drop

This is our full range of key cabinets, from small lockable cabinets for the home to cabinets that hand out keys around the clock. Use the filters above the products to narrow it down.

How many keys? Allow for growth. A cabinet that is full on day one gets replaced within a year. The Number of key locations filter takes you straight to the right size.

Does your insurer require an approved cabinet? Then it should be rated to the Swedish standard SSF 3492. Those cabinets are collected under security-rated key cabinets.

Key cabinet with code lock or key lock?

A code lock is the most common choice. The code is changed when somebody leaves, and nobody has to carry yet another key. Mechanical code locks, with push buttons or dials like a combination lock, never need a battery. Electronic code locks take several user codes, and some keep a log of who opened the cabinet.

A key lock is the simplest option and suits one or two people who need access. RFID opens the cabinet with a tag or an access card you already use.

Choose in the Lock system filter.

Does the cabinet need to be approved by your insurer?

A Swedish business insurance policy may require a key cabinet rated to SSF 3492, especially when the keys open someone else's property. Car workshops and car dealers often come to us because their insurer requires a rated cabinet for the car keys. Rated key cabinets are approved for storage indoors in a locked room.

The other cabinets are theft-delaying or access-restricting. That is enough for most offices and homes, where no rating is required. The Burglary rating filter tells them apart, and all rated cabinets are under security-rated key cabinets.

Should keys be returned without opening the cabinet?

A key cabinet with a key drop takes the key through a slot. The customer or colleague drops it in after closing time, and it stays locked away until someone with the code or key opens the cabinet. It is common at car workshops, car rental and property management.

The drop can also go through the wall. Some cabinets connect to a drop tube, so the key is returned from outside while the cabinet sits indoors.

A cabinet with a key drop cannot be rated to SSF 3492, because the opening for the drop cancels the rating. The sturdiest key drop cabinets are theft-delaying instead. The Key drop filter shows every cabinet with a drop.

Should customers be able to collect keys around the clock?

A key handover cabinet has separate compartments, each with its own code lock. You put the key in a compartment and give the customer the code, so the key is collected whenever it suits them, with no staff on site. Hotels, campsites and car rental firms use them.

Key dispensers are managed remotely in the cloud and send one-time codes by text message or email. Every withdrawal is logged. They are among our smart key cabinets, including a version for outdoor use.

If the cabinet goes outside, use the Weather resistant filter.

Who has which key right now?

Digital key cabinets with key control track every individual key, not just who opened the door. The cabinet shows which key is out and who has it, and logs everything.

The Key control filter shows them, and the full selection is under smart key cabinets. If knowing who opened the cabinet is enough, choose an electronic code lock with a log.

Can the key cabinet go outdoors?

Some of the cabinets withstand wind and weather, both code lock cabinets and key dispensers for handover. The Weather resistant filter shows which.

If your insurer requires a rated cabinet, it has to be indoors, in a locked room. Mains-powered cabinets should sit under a roof even when they are weather resistant, as condensation is a bigger problem than rain.

Key cabinet or key lock box?

A key lock box is a small locked box for one or two keys, such as the spare key to the house or the summer cottage. It sits outdoors and opens with a code. The full range is under key lock boxes.

If more keys need storing, or you need to know who has which, a key cabinet is what you are looking for.

How large a key cabinet do you need?

Count the keys and add a margin. The Number of key locations filter runs from small cabinets for the home to large key cabinets for a whole property.

Car keys take more room than ordinary keys. Choose an extra deep cabinet or one with long hooks, so the key and remote both fit.

If the cabinet has to fit a particular spot, use Outer height in mm and Outer width in mm. The range runs from small wall-mounted units to floor-standing systems.
