Lockable sheet metal storage cabinets and binder cabinets

205

Lockable sheet metal cabinets for binders, archives and equipment

Here are storage cabinets with locks: binder cabinets and sheet metal archive cabinets, wall cabinets, roll-front cupboards, cabinets with glass doors and fire-insulated cabinets.

Three questions decide: will the cabinet stand on the floor or hang on the wall, how much space is there, and which lock suits you? The Floor or wall, Outer height in mm, Outer width in mm and Lock system filters answer them.

Binder cabinets: how many binders will fit?

Most cabinets here are binder cabinets with adjustable shelves, built for A4 binders. The product page shows how many binders each cabinet holds.

A deep cabinet holds more than it looks. If it is deep enough, a second row of binders fits behind the front row, which can almost double the capacity without taking up more floor space.

Allow for more binders later. A cabinet that is full on day one is too small.

How much space is there?

Measure the space first and filter on Outer height in mm, Outer width in mm and Outer depth in mm. Remember that the doors need room to open.

Little room in front of the cabinet? A roll-front cupboard has doors that slide to the side and need no space in front. It suits corridors and narrow rooms. Choose it in the Door type filter.

Some cabinets are delivered unassembled. The product page says so.

Wall cabinets: when floor space is short

A lockable sheet metal wall cabinet hangs above the desk, in the staff room or in the workshop and keeps the floor clear. Choose it in the Floor or wall filter.

Fix the cabinet with screws and plugs suited to the wall. A plasterboard wall holds less than concrete, and a full binder cabinet is heavier than it looks.

Which lock does the cabinet need?

Almost all cabinets have a key lock and come with two keys. That is enough to keep binders and materials in an office away from unauthorised people.

Will several people use the cabinet? A battery-powered electronic code lock means nobody has to keep track of keys, and the code can be changed when someone leaves. The Lock system filter shows which cabinets have one.

A lockable sheet metal cabinet stops the curious, not burglars. If the contents need rated burglary protection, look at our security cabinets.

Does the cabinet need fire protection?

Most cabinets here have no fire protection. An ordinary sheet metal cabinet does not protect paper in a fire.

Fire-insulated cabinets have insulated walls that slow down the heat and give binders basic protection. They are not fire rated. Choose them in the Fire protection filter.

If you need tested fire protection, for contracts, accounts or records that cannot be recreated, choose a fire rated document cabinet. Hard drives and backups need a data media safe, because data media tolerate much lower temperatures than paper.

Glass door, colour or outdoors?

Should the contents be visible? Cabinets with glass doors suit binders in a meeting room or items on display, and they still lock. Choose them in the Door type filter.

Should the cabinet match the room? The Colour filter shows which colours are available.

Will the cabinet stand outside? The outdoor cabinets are made of galvanised sheet metal to withstand the weather. An ordinary sheet metal cabinet is made for indoor use. Choose outdoor in the Placement filter.

Clothes, personal belongings or tools?

If every employee needs their own locker for clothes and personal belongings, choose from staff lockers, clothes lockers or small compartment lockers. For workshops and garages there are tool cabinets.

How to use the filters

Start with Floor or wall and the dimensions: Outer height in mm, Outer width in mm and Outer depth in mm for the space.

Then choose Door type and Lock system, and Fire protection if the binders need basic protection against fire. Colour settles the rest.
