Secure Storage of Hazardous Chemicals
This fire-insulated chemical cabinet with a double door is designed for the secure storage of flammable substances, CMR substances, and toxic chemicals. The cabinet offers a robust solution for environments such as laboratories and workshops, focusing on both fire protection and efficient ventilation.
Important: The cabinet is tested against external fire but lacks a self-closing function and is therefore not tested for internal fire. This is an important aspect to consider when planning the storage of flammable substances.
Efficient Ventilation and Spill Protection
The cabinet is equipped with an advanced ventilation duct featuring extraction points to ensure that the space between all shelves is effectively ventilated. An exhaust air spigot with a diameter of 100 mm is located on the cabinet roof for easy connection to external ventilation. The ventilation is tested by the Swedish National Testing and Research Institute (SP) to ensure that no leakage of chemical vapours can occur.
The five adjustable shelves are designed with raised edges and closed corners to effectively prevent run-off in case of spills. This minimises the risk of leakage and facilitates cleaning. The cabinet can also be supplemented with a collection tray (accessory) for storing larger containers, providing a collection volume of 31 litres, or a tray shelf with a 7.1 litre collection volume.
Robust Construction and Tested Quality
With an insulated back, the cabinet is tested according to SP method 2369 against external fire and has met the requirements for class 1. This is the same external fire test performed on cabinets for flammable goods in shops with glass doors. The cabinet's construction is also thoroughly tested for safety, strength, durability, and stability according to European standards such as EN 16121, EN 14073-2, and EN 14074. The strength of moving parts is tested according to SS-EN 14074:2004, and the surface durability meets Möbelfakta's extra high requirements. The craftsmanship is checked according to SS83 90 30 edition 3.
The cabinet is delivered in a stylish white colour with two closed doors, a handle, and a key lock for secure storage. A vent is located on top of the cabinet.
Regulations and Recommendations
- Storage of Flammable Goods: This chemical cabinet is a suitable choice for storing less than 500 litres of flammable goods with a flashpoint of 30 °C or lower within the fire compartment.
- Collection Volume: According to MSBFS 2023:2, containment must be able to collect at least 10% of the total stored volume, but always the volume of the largest container.
- Ventilation: AFS 2023:10 §30 states that storage cabinets must have fan-assisted ventilation when hazardous gases or vapours may be emitted from the containers.
